Replacement Hub for a Dexter D20 Axle

Updated 09/02/2025 | Published 06/23/2025

Question:

I have a dexter d20 axle and the left rotor is warped. It was made in 2007 for westcoast trailer. I do have a pic of the axle tag, but don’t see a way to attach it. I am looking for the correct pre-greased assembly. Thanks

Hey Jake, did you have a chance to email the picture of the axle tag? If you’re still looking for a solution, I’m happy to help.

Hey Jake thanks for the picture! It looks like you have a 2,200 lbs capacity Dexter axle with a 70" hub face and spring seats spaced at 57-1/2" apart. The closest axle we have to those dimensions is the Dexter Trailer Idler Axle Beam item # T20BTR-EZ-7258.

The Dexter item # T20BTR-EZ-7258 is a couple inches longer at 72" wide so it will stick out an inch farther on both sides of your trailer. The spring seats are mounted at 58" so you'll be good there. 1/4" off on both sides won't make a difference.

This axle has a straight spindle which uses both item # L44649 inner and outer bearings.

Would this product fit on my existing axle? Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 2,000-lb Axles - 7" - 5 on 4-1/2 Part Number: 8-257-5UC3

@Jake Possibly leaning towards yes but I am not sure. The portion of your axle tag that's ripped off would show me that information. The 023-047-00 number on the right hand side of the axle tag corresponds to the Dexter Electric Trailer Brakes - 7" - Left/Right Hand Assemblies - 2,000 lbs to 2,200 lbs item # 23-47-48. These would fit the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly item # 8-257-5UC3, you were looking at. I recommend pulling one of your hubs and checking the part numbers stamped into the sides of the bearings. If they're item # L44649 on both then the item # 8-257-5UC3 hub will indeed fit.
