Does Curt Hitch Installation on 2025 Toyota Prius Require Recalibration
Updated 06/17/2025 | Published 06/12/2025 >
Question:
I have a new 2025 Prius Limited AWD. I just purchased a Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver. One of the shops I contacted for an install estimate says that because the rear bumper has to come off a complete recalibration $$$ must be done. I didnt have it done on my 2019 Prius, which a friend installed, and everything was fine. Is this really necessary?

Expert Reply:
Hey Linda; I'm not sure what they are saying needs to be recalibrated but that shouldn't be necessary. Curt does not list anything about recalibration in the # C67RJ instructions and we have had quite a few customers install this on their own with no reports of recalibration being necessary. You might consider asking your friend to help out again, or check with a different shop like Rack 2 Roam or Henrys Holding which are both near 96150.

Thanks so much Robin...as I suspected. The friend is no longer available so I will reach out to the two shops you suggested.
