Does Hitch Tongue Weight Capacity Impact 2025 Hyundai Tucson Tongue Weight Capacity

Question:
Hello, I am looking for a trailer hitch for a 2025 Hyundai Tucson. The owners manual states the max tongue weight at 220 lbs., but the Curt 13485 your Part Number: C94WR lists the max tongue weight as 525 lbs. Can you explain the difference in the tongue weights? My wife is worried that the hitch will void the warranty, but we need at least 350 lbs. tongue weight for her fathers mobility scooter carrier. Thanks for your help. Todd

Hi Todd; I'm sorry to say the max tongue weight listed in the manual for your 2025 Hyundai Tucson will be your limit. A hitch like the Curt # C94WR does have a higher tongue weight, which isn't uncommon for trailer hitches. However, you're always limited by the lowest capacity.
The best bet for your mobility scooter would be to either get a small trailer or find one of the carriers with wheels that will help reduce the tongue weight so your vehicle can manage it. Regarding the warranty, installation of a hitch will not void the warranty since you're protected under the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act. Let me know if you have any other questions.
