Can Reese Pro Round Bar Weight Distribution Shank Be Used In Rise Position

Updated 05/13/2025 | Published 05/06/2025

Question:

I’m looking at the Reese Pro Round Bar Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - 6,000 lbs GTW, 600 lbs TW and had a few questions. I’m currently pulling a 3,000lb camper with a 300lb tongue weight with a 2024 sienna. The hitch is very low even unloaded. Can I use this for a riser instead of for ping down. I really need like 4-5 in off lift. Also can I replace the ball with a 2in?

Hey Chad! What kind of camper do you have? The Reese Pro Round Bar Weight Distribution # RE34FR can be used with the shank flipped over in the rise position to get you the height you need. Also yes, you can swap out the hitch ball with the # A-90. Let me know if you need anything else.

I’m got a 2016 forest river flagstaff 625D pop up camper. I notice it recommends 24.5-27.5 to mount the brackets. Best I can do is 28-29 in as there is a big welded plate right in the way. What are my options here.

@ChadB there is no real way around that so I would get the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution # FA92-00-0450. The bracket positioning is 27" - 30" back from the center of the coupler and it works with tongue weights up to 450 lbs. The quality of this system is better and it is made by Equal-i-zer who specializes in weight distribution. You're also going to have more clearance with the trunnion bars vs the round. You will also need # C54CR for a 2" or # C40005 for a 2-5/16" ball.

@RobinH Much thanks. This trailer is set up 30 in. It has notches cut in the top plate for this purpose but I was struggling to find a set up that wasn’t 27 in. This is exactly what I was looking for.
