Weight Distribution Recommendation for 4,200 lb Trailer that is 19 ft Long

Updated 09/12/2024 | Published 09/04/2024

Question:

We just bought a 19’ travel trailer. Max weight is 4200lbs loaded. I’ve got a 2011 Tundra with a 3” lift. When I drove it home dry 2800lbs I was starting to squat a little. There is about 400lbs of tools in the back plus the shell. Would this wdh be too much for my trailer? Is there one a step below this one?

Hey Joe, I believe that the Reese weight distribution part # RE34FR is perfect for your setup. This has a tongue weight range of 200 to 600 lbs which should be ideal for your towing setup.

You did mention the weight in the bed of your truck but only the portion that would have to be factored is any weight behind the rear axle which your weight is probably ahead of that.

Can you change the ball out on that RE34FR? My camper is a 2”.

@Joe You can swap the ball out with a 2 inch size like with the part # A-90. We only offer it with the larger ball size though.
