Hello Trenton,
Base on my research, the Vesper Steel Dual Trailer Wheel - 16" x 6" - 8 on 6-1/2 - 4.77" Pilot - Silver # TA56FR should work for your Eaton HO72 rear axle on your 1966 C36.
To ensure the Vesper 16x6 steel dually wheels fit properly on your Eaton HO72 rear axle, there are a few key things to double-check. First, confirm that the axle uses the standard 8x6.5" bolt pattern, which is typical for HO72s. Just as important, the center hub bore of the axle should be no larger than 4.77", since these wheels are hub-piloted and rely on that fit for proper support.
Next, verify that the brake drums will clear the inside of the wheel barrel, especially if you're using oversized or non-original drums. For dually applications, the 5.35" offset on these wheels is designed to provide the necessary spacing between the inner and outer tires, but it’s still a good idea to check that there’s enough clearance to prevent the tires from rubbing. Lastly, confirm that the wheels’ 3,860 lb load rating meets or exceeds the rear axle’s weight rating.
We only have specialty trailer tires, so you will need to source those somewhere else. Just make sure they can fit a 16x6" wheel.
Did you just get this truck, or had it for a while and just getting around to it? My Dad restored a 1965 Chevy, I think he did a pretty fantastic job! I attached a picture for you to check out.
