Determining the Bolt Pattern
The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.
To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)
On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)
Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this 16 inch by 6 inch black dual steel wheel with an offset, has an 8 on 6-1/2 inch bolt pattern and a 4.77 inch hub dot pilot diameter. Now, this wheel is a dual wheel, so it can be used as either an inner or an outer wheel on dually trucks, buses, or trailers. Now, depending on which way you install it, it's either gonna have a 5.35 inch positive offset if you use it as an inner wheel, which would be this position right here, or if you turn it around and put it into a outer wheel, then that net offset would change to a 5.35 inch negative offset. This wheel is a sturdy steel construction. If you notice it does have the four hand holes.
It does have a black powder coat finish over an e-coat primer, gives you excellent corrosion resistance, and it is a high-quality wheel, meets the DOT Department of Transportation specifications. Now, we mentioned the hub pilot diameter. That's the diameter of this large hole here. This is a hub piloted wheel, so in other words, it will center on the axle hub off this pilot hole diameter. So because of that, the bolt holes will be non-chamfered.
So that requires a flange nut, a 5/8 inch by 18 size flange nut to attach this to the vehicle. And the flange nuts we do sell separately, the part number 95188. And I just wanna pop up an insert to show you. There's what the flange nuts would look like. Now, a few dimensions on this, we're gonna measure the diameter, which is always measured inside the inside.
So if we take our tape measure and if we go straight across, there's your 16 inch diameter. And if we measure the width, the width is the same way inside the inside or bead seat to bead seat, and you'll be able to see there's your six inch wide wheel. Now, the bolt pattern on this wheel is a 8 on 6-1/2 inch bolt pattern. And if you wanna measure the bolt pattern on a wheel like this that's an even number of lugs, it's pretty easy because the lug holes are directly across from each other. So when you go to measure it, just pick any hole, let's say this one, and measure from the center of this hole to the center of the hole directly across from it.
So on this wheel, it'll measure 6-1/2 inches, which means this is an 8 lug 6-1/2 inch bolt pattern. We mentioned the offset can be either a plus or a minus 5.35 inches, and the offset is always measured from the center line of the wheel to the mounting surface. So depending on how this wheel is used, it would either be a positive or negative offset. Weight capacity on this wheel is 3,860 pounds. But that should do it for the review on this 16 inch by 6 inch black dual steel wheel with an offset, 8 on 6-1/2 inch bolt pattern and the 4.77 inch hub pilot diameter.
Great product.
