Hello Mike, thanks for reaching out. That could be a gearbox or motor issue. Can you elaborate a bit more on what is going on with the step? Has this always been an issue, or did it just start up recently? Will it retract partially then it just stops? When it stops can you still hear the motor running? If the motor seems to be running fine the issue likely lies with the gearbox.

If the motor just shuts off completely you could be looking at a bad motor or controller.

To find the right replacement I will need the part number from your motor/gearbox/controller. Let me know and I am happy to look into it.

@Mike That does sound like a gear box issue. Sounds like the motor and switch are working and things on the step are working mechanically it just doesn't have the gears working to drive it. Not unheard of for these to go bad. Do you know the model number of your step? Or is there a part number on the gear box you can see?
