Trailer Wiring Harness for a 2013 Mercedes GL350

Updated 09/26/2025 | Published 04/16/2025

Question:

I have a Mercedes GL350 Bluetec diesel, and I bought a 1644406434 factory cable that connects to outlets on the vehicle. After installing it, I found that the cable has a 6 pin connector on the outlet side. Does Curt make an adapter that will plug into the connector?

Hey Michael thanks for the information. I checked with Curt and Tekonsha and neither of them make a harness that will connect to the 1644406434 cable you got from Mercedes.

The only option I have to install a 4-way connector to your vehicle is the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector item # C59236. This is a universal connector that has to be spliced in to your factory tail light wiring.

Hey Michael, did you decide to try the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter to connect your trailer? I'm curious to know how it worked out for you, as it might help others facing a similar situation with their Mercedes.

@JerredH, It's been awhile, but if you mean the trailer light cabling that uses sensors and doesn't require cutting into the vehicle's wiring, yes we did. The only real problem, and we probably created it, was instead of running a wire from the back of my Mercedes GL 350 Bluetec, we just connected the power wire to one of the battery taps on the fuse block in the right rear of the vehicle, and we found that when we shut off the key, it doesn't turn off the trailer lights, so I have to disconnect the connector. We'll get around to fixing that later. All in all, I'm pleased with not only the Light converter, but also the Curt trailer hitch I had installed. Thanks, Mike
