Would Going From 255/45ZR18 To 245/45ZR18 Tires Affect Performance In Any Way?

Updated 10/23/2025 | Published 04/04/2025

Question:

Good evening, I currently am running a 255/45ZR/18 on my 2013 EZ loader trailer/ Legend Boat. 18x9 rims / with a +10 mm offset. I am considering purchasing the Kenda 245/45ZR/18 tire and rim combo. Would you think going from a 255 to a 245 tire will affect my performance in any way? Is this tire / rim available in a 255/45ZR/18 ? Thank you for your help.

Hello Mike, thanks for reaching out. Going from a 255/45ZR/18 tire to a 245/45ZR/18 would not make any noticeable differences in performance. The new tires would not be quite as large in diameter do the deck height would be lowered very slightly.

That said, the only 18" tire and wheel combo we offer is the Kenda P245/45ZR18 Radial Tire with 18" Aluminum Wheel # KE25KV. We do not offer this tire in a 255/45.

Hey Mike, how did the Kenda 245/45ZR18 tire and wheel combo work out on your EZ Loader trailer? Did you notice any change in ride or handling after switching from the 255s? Your feedback could help others thinking about a similar size change.
