Question:
My Strindberg Carlson tongue Jack keeps blowing the 30 amp fuse. The input is hooked up to the positive post of one of the two batteries. Do you have any idea what the problem could be? The camper is a 2018 Keystone Passport. Thanks

Hey Fred,
I am very sorry to hear that your trailer jack keeps blowing fuses. If your Stromberg Carlson Jack # JET-3755 keeps blowing the 30A fuse, there are a few things to check that might help figure out the issue.
First, take a look at the wiring. Make sure the jack’s power wire is securely connected to the positive post of the battery and isn’t shorting against anything. Also, check the ground connection, if it’s grounded to the trailer frame, the contact point should be clean and free of rust or paint. A bad ground can cause all kinds of weird electrical issues.
Next, is the jack is sharing power with other high-draw components? If other devices are pulling power from the same circuit, it could be overloading the fuse. The best setup is to have the jack wired directly to the battery with its own wire.
It’s also worth checking the jack’s motor itself. If it’s struggling, making unusual noises, or running slower than normal, it could be binding up or failing internally, causing it to draw too much current.
Don’t forget to inspect the battery terminals and wiring connections for corrosion or looseness. Poor connections can create high resistance, which forces the motor to pull more amps than normal, which will lead to blown fuses.
A simple way to test is to disconnect the jack from your trailer wiring and run it directly off a known good battery with fresh connections. If it still blows fuses, the issue is likely inside the jack itself, and it may need to be repaired or replaced.
Please make sure to let me know what you find out.
