Question:

Does this tent include a mattress or do I buy one separately? What size would I need? Thanks!

Hey Jackson, thanks for reaching out!

The Yakima SkyRise SL # Y42QD does include a mattress-ish. The reason I say "ish" is because I've stayed in one of these before, and while the mattress is definitely better than sleeping on the ground, it definitely is a long way from your bed at home or even a blowup mattress.

If you're younger than 30 then you'll be just fine, but if you're at the age where you're grunting to get out of bed or put your shoes on, then I recommend using additional padding. I've used something similar to the Klymit Insulated Static V2 Sleeping Pad # RG58ZV and while this isn't a full-on blowup mattress, it does offer enough comfort for a passable night of sleep without having to take painkillers in the morning - which means you can actually enjoy yourself while out camping.

Aside from that, you can fit roughly a queen-size mattress in the tent if you'd rather go that route.

Hey Jackson, how did the mattress situation work out with your Yakima SkyRise tent? Did the built-in pad give you enough comfort, or did you end up adding the Klymit sleeping pad for extra support? Your experience could help others figure out the best setup for their trips.
