Video Transcript for Ultimate Overview of the Yakima HD Crossbar

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this Yakima 78-inch-long aluminum HD crossbar. It's for a quantity of one. Now this is a heavy-duty crossbar that'll replace a damaged crossbar, or you can add another crossbar to your existing truck bed rack, or roof rack. This will pair with the Yakima truck bed towers or the roof rack towers and fit kit that we do sell separately. It is a full length design, so it does maximize space for carriers and accessories and it is a very versatile crossbar.

It accommodates accessories that mount in the T-slots or clamp around the bars and those accessories can be mounted in either the top or the bottom channel. And just to show you what we're talking about, I'm gonna zoom in here and you can see, here's the top channel, has a rubber strip in it. This rubberized strip in the top channel'll reduce any wind noise and drag, helps keep dirt and grime out of your crossbar. You can just, by pulling that up there, you can see the channel in there, and then you can put your strip right back in there all the way. It'll also provide cushioning and slip resistance for your cargo.

Now the bottom channel, which is gonna be right there on the bottom, this will allow for a nice easy installation on your Yakima truck bed rack towers. They do also sell an SL adapter which is part number Y03541. It is listed on this product page as a related product and that'll allow the bar to work with the BaseLine, the TimberLine, the SkyLine, and the RidgeLine towers. Also, if you can look closely, if I can turn this just the right way, you might be able to see, along here you can see some measurements. Those are etched measurements on the bottom of the bar.

Helps you center the rack on your vehicle. The end caps on each end, they are plastic end caps that help keep water and debris out of the bar. And you can also use 'em as integrated tie-down points, make it easy to secure your gear to. Now this bar is a heavy-duty yet lightweight aluminum bar. It's durable and rustproof.

It is a quantity of one crossbar. Now the weight capacity on this crossbar is 500 pounds, but we do always recommend to check the vehicle's roof capacity and you'll use the lesser amount for the capacity. Dimensions, again, total length on this bar is 78 inches long. It's 3 inches wide and 1 1/2 inches tall. But that should do it for the review on the Yakima 78-inch-long aluminum HD crossbar.
