Will the Thule Verse Handle My Heavy Bikes with Fat Tires, and Does it Have an Add On for More Bikes

Updated 10/30/2025 | Published 02/26/2025

Question:

I have 2 heavy fat tire bikes but might buy another one for my daughter soon. Should I get a 4 bike or is there a way to convert this one to a 4 bike if I buy another bike in the future?

Hello Roger,

Great question! First off the Thule Verse Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount # TH64SA ( # TH74SA for a 1 1/4" receiver) is a great rack for your 2 heavy fat tire bikes bikes. It can handle 60 pounds per bike and a tire width up to 5". After you get your daughter a bike you can add the 2-Bike Add-On for Thule Verse Bike Rack # TH84SA, then your 2 bike rack will magically be a 4 bike rack.

Also, don't forget to grab the Tail Light Kit and License Plate Holder for Thule Verse Bike Racks # TH24SA so your license plate is visible and compliant with traffic laws.

Do you have a favorite trail you like to ride?

Hey Roger, how did the Thule Verse bike rack work out for your fat tire bikes? Did you end up adding the 2-bike add-on once your daughter got her bike? Your experience could help others deciding between the 2-bike and 4-bike setup.
