2024 Audi Q5 Sportback Trailer Wiring Recommendation

Question:

I have a 2024 Audi Q5 Sportback. I had an after market trailer hitch installed and need a wiring harness. I have been told that you have to have an Audi trailer hitch installed with the wiring harness to get it to work. Is this true? Do you have. an option? Thank you

The Tekonsha Wiring Kit # 119147KIT will work great on your 2024 Audi Q5 Sportback. It isn't "Audi" brand, but Tekonsha has the most reliable wiring on the market so you can be confident it will last a long time.

Are you planning on using the SQ5 for towing, or are you needing it for something else?

Towing a small utility trailer. I did place an order for that harness. Will I need a mechanic to install?

@Tom Sounds good! Just checking to see if you were already set up with a ball mount as well is all. This harness splices into the wiring on your Audi so if you aren't confident cutting and splicing you might consider having a shop do the installation for you, but if you're a DIYer you'll be just fine.
