Many vehicles use separate circuits for brake and turn lights, which can cause trailer lights not to work correctly. This converter takes those separate signals and combines them into one—exactly how trailer wiring operates—so the turn and brake lights on the trailer flash just like they should.
When hooked up with the Curt Powered Converter Wiring Kit # C55152, the black power wire draws power straight from the vehicle’s battery instead of the tail light circuit. That means the trailer lights get full brightness every time, even on vehicles with pulse-width modulation (PWM) or sensitive lighting systems.
Whether your trailer uses LED or traditional bulbs, this 4-pole flat connector handles it. It supplies running, turn, and brake light signals so your trailer stays visible and road-legal. The design is compatible with LED taillights since the converter isolates the signal voltage from the lighting load.
This splice-in kit uses clearly marked wires—green for right turn, yellow for left turn, red for brake, brown for running lights, white for ground, and black for 12-volt power—making it easy to match each circuit with a simple circuit tester. Once connected, you’ve got a clean setup ready for towing.

very helpful in getting the items I needed for my RV/toad wiring updates. Great service!
Had a herd time finding a plug to fit my 2021 Cadillac XT6 so my dealer contacted e-trailer and figured out what i needed. Thanks E-trailer
Working with tech support at e trailor , they recommended this product and it was exactly what i needed, the instruction were easy to follow, even installing on a retired ambulance with wierd wiring I was able to get this to work.
I am so happy with this Curt POWERED converter design, that I bought another one to convert my other trailer puller to this style of converter. It has solved all of my trailer lamp brightness issues with the turn signals and brake lamps. You will not believe the difference, especially if the trailer lamps seem dim, and the wiring and ground conditions have been inspected already. May require Curt kit # C55152 to bring 12V power connection back to this kit.
I bought the converter wiring kit along with the taillight converter to install on my 2006 Mini Cooper. The kits included everything I needed to do the installation, except for a 6/ 12V tester, which I was able to get locally at a hardware store. The instructions were clear and easy to follow, so the full installation time was about 30 minutes. In fact, I did the installation on my lunch break in my employee parking lot. A quality kit for a great price, would recommend.
The wiring harness was easy to install except until the end. The splice kits were to large and didn't make contact with the wiring on the car. I couldn't figure out what the problem was for weeks. I called etrailer and was sent a wiring schematic but they were just as clueless. I ended up cutting the ends off the kit and putting normal connections on.After a year it still works fine and will gladly install this again on my next car.
This affordable converter kit should be the only one on the market! It is the fifth (5th) kit I have installed, and is the best because of the "powered" feature allowing the user to connect 12-volt power. All of my vehicles have separate turn signals from the brake lamps, so I've had plenty of practice using these converter kits! Now I know which kit to purchase from now, on.

Still the best product ever, because it is powered and my trailer lamps are bright as ever. I stand by my original review of April, 2022 !
