Question:
Hello, I’m trying to figure out what springs I need. Recently I replaced the springs with a set but when I measured originally I did not take the weight off of the trailer. The springs at that time measured approximately 26-1/4”. We’ve had an incident on the highway and now I need to replace all the springs and associated hardware again. The springs on the trailer now are all damaged and measure approximately 27”. The trailer is a 2018 jayco octane model 273 with two 5145lb axles. The distance from the frame hangers is 29-1/2 and 59” over all.

Thanks for the picture and the interesting story! We do not have 27" eye to eye springs in a 5,200 lbs or more capacity but I have a solution for you. The 6-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 6,000-lb Trailer Axles item # e94SR have an eye to eye measurement of 26" so they're going to be an inch shorter on both axles.
Based on your story, I highly recommend replacing your equalizers. If you swapped them out them out with the Equa-Flex Cushioned Equalizers item # LC145546 you would gain that inch back on both springs/axles. These are comparable to your current ones.
If you're onboard with this recommendation, I would just need to know the distance from the center to the center of your shackle straps so I can recommend the correct replacements with hardware. Feel free to email me directly or comment below.

Hey, what did you end up doing with the 6-leaf springs and the Equa-Flex equalizers for your Jayco trailer? Once you had the shackle strap measurements, were you able to find the right replacements? Your update could make it easier for others working on similar tandem axle setups.
