Base Plate Kit for 2025 Ram Limited SST HO

Updated 02/04/2025 | Published 01/28/2025

Question:

Hello, I currently have a etrailer XHD Non-Binding Tow Bar for Blue Ox and Curt Base Plates - RV Mount - 2inch Hitch - 10.5K. I just purchased a 2025 Ram Limited SST H.O. Can you tell me which base plates are correct? Thanks!

Hey Andy! As long as you don't have the RHO the correct base plate kit is the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BLU49HR. It looks like the High-Output is available on the Limited and RHO models. Since those are two different trim packages, and you have the Limited, this will fit your truck.

Do you have the rest of the components you need to flat tow? If not, I recommend the following:

-Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-15267

-Demco Stay-IN-Play Duo Flat Tow Brake System for RVs w/ Hydraulic Brakes # SM99251

Or

-Demco Air Force One Flat Tow Brake System for RVs w/ Air Brakes # SM99243

I do have the rest. The only remaining thing I'm not sure about is the installation of the Air Force One. The Ram doesn't have any vacuum hoses associated with the master cylinder to connect to. The Ram spec sheet says, "Power assist - Dual rate, tandem diaphragm vacuum". The etrailer manual TB20050 says "Note: This portion of the installation is for vehicles with vacuum-assisted brakes ONLY. If you have hydroboost brakes, refer to page 22. If you have an electric assist brake and the vehicle requires the battery to be disconnected, refer to page 22. If you have an electric assist brake and the battery remains connected plug off the vacuum port only, keep the exhaust port open. If you are uncertain of your vehicle’s braking configuration, call the Demco Help Line for assistance." I'm not sure if I should plug only the vacuum or both the vacuum and exhaust ports on the Air Force One. Also, I don't see anything about disconnecting the battery in the Ram Owner's manual. Thanks! Andy B.

@Andrew block off the vacuum port and leave the exhaust port open.
