Can Box of Stay N Play DUO Be Submerged

Updated 11/03/2025 | Published 01/17/2025

Question:

I noted on one of your installation videos for a Jeep Wrangler, the Stay In Play box is mounted on the inside of the front bumper. In this location, it is possible the unit might be submerged under water during a water crossing. Is the unit able to withstand being totally submerged ? Thank-you

Hey Steven, so the box of the Demco Stay N Play part # SM99251 was not designed to be submerged so I would not recommend mounting it in a location that you know would get submerged. Is there a higher location that you can find maybe up in the engine bay area that would work? Some of the newer Wranglers have a bit of a tighter area to work but the older ones are more opened up.

Hey Steven, did you end up finding a better spot to mount the Stay-IN-Play box on your Wrangler? Your setup could help others who need to keep their system clear of water crossings.

@JamesonC Ended up leaving it mounted inside the front bumper. After the Jeep got a 3.5 inch lift and on 37 inch tires, it ends up being mounted 24 inches high which should be OK for any water crossings I’ll be doing!

@StevenG Glad you got it figured out! Guy on my team just took his Jeep through a creek and now he says his interior smells bad haha.
