The patriot system is the only braking system or can the road master system be used. I’m more interested in one board perm placement system as opposed to the brake clamp system sitting on the floorboard.

Hey Doug, that's a great question but no you don't have to use the Blue Ox Patriot part # BLU37TR. You can use a permanent install option like the Roadmaster Invisibrake # RM-8700 like you mentioned.
Our favorite here though is the Demco Stay N Play part # SM99251 as it performs better and takes less time to install. This is a proportional kit which means it senses how hard you apply the brakes to decide how hard to apply the toad brakes. The Invisibrake applies a preset amount of braking pressure over time so it take more of a one size fits all braking pressure solution.
