Is There A Lightweight Aluminum Shank Available For The Curt TruTrack 2P Weight Distribution Hitch

Updated 12/30/2024 | Published 12/27/2024

Question:

I have a Curt TruTrack 2P WDH and wanting to replace the steel 2inch shank receiver with an aluminum one. Can you use the shank to mount a Curt TruTrack 2P hitch head to? Im looking to replace my steel shaft. Its rated 10k tow and 1k tongue now, but just too heavy. And I use a 2 5/16 ball. I have 2 trucks, a 23 Titan Pro4X and a 24 Titan XD SV.

Hey Candelario,

The Curt TruTrack 2P Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control # C69JR only has a 2" channel and the shank of the Curt Alumalite Aluminum Adjustable 2-Ball Mount # C33ZJ you were looking at is 2-1/2" wide so it would be too large to fit. There isn't a another aluminum shank that would be compatible either unfortunately. Most other WDH's in your tongue weight range are going to either be the same amount of weight or more so there really isn't much of a difference you can make here.

Thank you for your quick response. I thought it was a 2" shank to fit my receiver.

@Candelario Yes, your receiver hitch would require a 2" shank but the channel portion that the head of the weight distribution hitch connects to would also need to be 2" for the Curt TruTrack # C69JR. The slotted portion of the Curt Alumalite # C33ZJ is 2-1/2" wide so it would not fit inside the channel of the TruTrack's head # C26BR.
