Is Hitch Ball on Curt TruTrack 2P Weight Distribution System Pre-Installed

Question:

Considering buying c69jr curt hitch. It appears the ball is not preloaded and requires 450 ft/lbs torque. If this is the case can you preload it and torque to 450 ft/lbs? Torque wrenches for this amount of torque run in excess of $300

You are correct that the Curt TruTrack 2P Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control # C69JR comes with a 2-5/16" hitch ball but it is not pre-installed. This is something directly from Curt and while we aren't able to pre-torque hitch balls for weight distribution systems prior to shipping them out, you should be able to rent one from your local auto parts store or have a local shop install the hitch ball for you.

For a similar system that does come with the hitch ball pre-installed I recommend checking out the Reese Pro Round Bar Weight Distribution w Sway Control # RE44FR. This is essentially the exact same thing just under a different brand and it does come with the 2-5/16" hitch ball already in place so that's one less thing you have to worry about.
