What Weight Distribution Hitch with Anti-Sway do You Recommend for My 4x7 Foot Trailer?

Published 04/15/2022

Question:

Hello. I sometimes pull a small 4x7 trailer with my truck. I have to use about a 10 inch extension to get the trailer to sit level. If I put my atv on this trailer it sways very very bad. I don’t know if it’s tongue weight or the extension I use. The extension is one of the adjustable height ones. Does anyone make a small anti sway I could put on this or do you think if I welded the hitch solid that it help? Thank you

With your small 4x7 trailer, a small weight distribution hitch with anti-sway can help level your setup. For one that is designed for a small amount of weight, I recommend the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution w/ 4-Point Sway Control # EQ37041ET (without a shank) or the # EQ37040ET (with a shank). This model is a steel-on-steel friction control model that is compatible with tongue weights up to 400 pounds and gross towing weights of 4,000 pounds. If you need to remove the 2" ball that comes the hitch for any reason, I recommend using the Thin-Walled Socket # EQ70-00-4800 for an easy tightening/removal process.

It is important to note that how you load the trailer matters in your application. You want to make sure that the weight is balanced out so that it is not just front-heavy or rear-heavy.
