How Does The BAKFlip MX4 Hard Tonneau Cover BAK99AV Install On 2024 Toyota Tundra CrewMax?

Question:

I just bought a 2024 Toyota Tundra CrewMax SR5 5.5foot box. Im interested in the BakFip BAK99AV listed on your website and plan to install it myself. While searching install instructions I found 1 showing removal of the truck bed rails, installation of the cover bed rails in their place, and reinstallation of the truck bed rails onto and below the cover rails.... and 2 installation of the cover rails directly onto the truck bed rails. Clamps shown differed for the two methods. Which method is appropriate for the BAK99AV for sale on your web page. Please let me know. Thanks.

Hey Dave, thanks for reaching out. The BAKFlip MX4 Hard Tonneau Cover # BAK99AV is the correct fit for your 2024 Toyota Tundra CrewMax SR5 with the 5.5' Bed. It clamps directly to the bed rails like the second installation method you mentioned. You do not need to remove the bed rails in order to install the cover. I am not sure what other instruction you saw that show removal of the bed rails but this is definitely not a step for installation. Hey Dave, how did the install go with the BAKFlip MX4 on your Tundra? Did clamping it directly to the bed rails work out as expected? Your update could make it easier for others doing the same setup.
