Best Swivel Trailer Jack for Salt Water Environment for a Boat Trailer

Updated 06/05/2014 | Published 06/04/2014

Question:

In my search for the best swivel trailer jack for my Lake and Bay boat that will hold up well in hot salt water environments I came across the Fulton F2. However, Ive seen some pretty scathing reviews on other websites which is in stark contrast to the very favorable reviews on your site. The 1600 pound class is overkill but I love the idea of not having to continuously keep the jack greased up to prevent corrosion. So whats your opinion of this jack? Are there really too many plastic parts that are easily broken like some people have said? Is this truly the best corrosion resistant jack on the market or would you recommend something different?

The problem that some people have with the Fulton F2 jacks such as # F1413040134 is that they are not used to seeing plastic pieces on a trailer jack. If you are rough with a piece of plastic, it can break. But at the same time plastic is not going to corrode. If the jack is abused a person could have trouble with it.

The metal parts of the jack are aluminum which is naturally corrosion resistant. Other jacks are going to be made of steel and zinc-plated or coated. Steel can rust, even plated or coated steel. Aluminum will be fine. So it is a very corrosion resistant jack designed for salt water use.

The only thing that would be better would be a jack made completely out of stainless steel. There isn't one but it probably wouldn't be a big seller because that much stainless steel would cost a fortune!
