Hello, I an looking for an axle that may work my 1976 Airstream Sovereign. I know that there will be drilling and modifications that need to be made for it. Just looking for something that will fit or recommendations. I have 2 measurements the first one being the frame width of 61 3/4. and the backing plate distance being 71. The rim specs are 6 lug on 5 1/2. Its actually e-trailer part LH33FR 6k capacity would be preferred Thank you for any insight available.

Hello Patrick.

I did a little research after you mentioned drilling, and I see that the 1976 Airstream Sovereign used torsion axles. We unfortunately do not carry torsion axles. I do however have a different kind of axle for you to consider, the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension - Standard Duty - No Drop - 5 Bolt Flange - 5,200 lbs # ASR5200S01, I do not have them in a 6K only 5,200 and then it jumps to 7k. If you do consider this option it would go nicely with a set of etrailer Electric Trailer Brakes - Self-Adjusting - 12" - Left/Right Hand - 5.2K to 7K # AKEBRK-7-SA, and for hubs the Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 5.2K & 6K Axles - 12" - 6 on 5-1/2 - Pre-Greased # AKHD-655-6-EZ-K so you can use your # LH33FR.

Hey Patrick, did you end up trying the Timbren axle-less suspension setup for your Airstream Sovereign? It sounds like it could be a good match with the hub and brake combo mentioned. Your feedback could help others working on similar vintage trailers.
