Recommended Settings for Blue Ox Patriot With 2024 Buick Envista

Published 11/04/2024

Question:

Just purchased a 2024 Buick Envista and installed the BlueOx baseplate. The vehicle curb weight is 3137lbs. Looking for a starting, brake force, sensitivity and max force to start with. Thought you may have insight based on cars of similar weight. Insights apreciated.

Hi Darren; the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR doesn't really have a set number for each vehicle. Trial and error is the best way to set it up for your 2024 Buick Envista. Hook it up to the motor home and test the braking in an open area away from other vehicles. If you feel the towed vehicle pressing against the motor home when you hit the brakes you need to adjust the force. If you have a smooth braking experience then the sensitivity is set correctly.

For max force on smaller vehicles or vehicles with more sensitive brakes the setting should be lowered. For larger vehicles or vehicle's with unresponsive brakes it needs to be higher. It looks like the Envista falls in the middle on size so it should be set according to brake sensitivity. If that seems to be average I would set it in the middle.
