by:

Easy to setup , good quality solar panel … very satisfied

by:

I have had this solar charger in use for over a year. Keeps my single battery for my camper unit charged up all winter while it sits under covered storage. I attached it to a support pole where even in the winter it will get 5-6 hours of sunlight. Maintained the battery last winter where we had several weeks of single digit temperatures. I would recommend this charger.

by:

We install these on new and used trailers and for customers. They have been very reliable vs. another brand we used to use and less expensive.

by:

Product works as advertised. Quick shipping and arrived without any issues.

by:

Works great keeps the battery charged while the trailer no in use! Very pleased!

by:

So far it's good

by:

This solar battery charger has done a great job keeping my snowmobile battery charged all summer long. The area my trailer is parked in only gets direct sunlight for part of the day but the solar panel still takes in enough sunlight to get the job done even in partial shade. I made a frame and stand that the solar panel mounts to and attached the assembly to my trailer, the whole assembly is easily removable. I plan to get a few more of these for keeping other batteries charged like the one in my boat and my spare vehicles.

by:

These work great ??

by:

Should come with something to secure to trailer (magnets, Velcro,?)
It would also be nice to have description of what the indicator light are indicating

Hey Thomas. The light on the box will flash red when charging and will also switch to an orange and then green to show when the battery is fully charged.

by:

Amazing item, easy to install, and keeps the battery on my dump trailer topped off between use. I park in an area without power so helps ensure I don't have to charge the night before a use.

by:

Review for customer service only, have not used the chargers yet. Stay tuned.
Website had some minor glitches on the "Payment" link, but contacted the Customer Service # and purchase was completed in quick, friendly manner. Will continue to use etrailer.com for trailer / RV parts.

Despite several falls to the ground, bad weather and blistering sun, the chargers have help up well and are still producing a consistent trickle charge to the baatteries. Wont help discharged batteries, but work well with good charged batteries.

by:

I have a dump trailer and when I’m not using it, I connect the solar panel so the battery doesn’t run dead. It’s been working great.

Still Great , same battery it’s done it’s job!

by:

This works very well. I was surprised.

by:

I just installed it. That was easy.

But
it didn't come with any instructions. The LED is blinking, so I don't know if that is good or bad. I'll have to come back in a week to see if the batteries got charged or not.

The LED blinking means that it is doing its job!

by:

It looks good. I would have liked a panel a little bigger - maybe like 16 x 16. When I get it mounted and use it I will take pictures.

by:

This still works great 1 year later. I have it hooked up to a remote battery that operates the electric jack on my equipment trailer. I have not had 1 issue with the battery being too low to lower/raise my trailer for attachment to my truck.

by:

Works great! We put it on a tilt bed trailer that we use for our UTV and ever since we installed it we have not had a dead battery. The battery usually dies over the winter but not this year! We will be ordering more in the near future for more trailers.

by:

Picked this solar charger for 2 reasons, first was the price....second was the 7.5 volt charge vs 5.0 like most others. This was easy to setup and with the Arizona sun, it keeps my 12 v battery charged for my winch and power jack. I bought a second one for my other trailer

by:

Just what the Doc. ordered..This little thing is great, bought it for a dump trailer about a year ago and I have not had any trouble with the battery since. A good hot battery when you get to the trash dump is a must, unloading by hand is a pain. I plan to buy more for other equipment, lawnmower, chipper, tractor its just a great battery maintenance tool for your battery.

by:

Well I finally got the panel mounted on a removeable holder much like the picture on your web site. Once I recharged my RV battery to full charge this panel has had no problem keeping the battery charged while not in use. I highly recommend this panel for this purpose.

by:

Using this charger on my RV. It only keeps the batteries up for a week or ten days. I'm disappointed in this system.

I know that this charge is meant to trickle charge the batteries. I was not sure by what you meant with it only keeps the batteries up for week. Can you explain in more detail?

by:

Well made. Just hooked up. We will see how it does

by:

I have had this on a utility trailer for the past year to keep power tools charged. It has been great. Just outfitted a 2nd trailer with the same system.

by:

Excellent product. I put this charger on my dump trailers and it keeps the battery topped off even after extensive use. I definitly recommend this product.

by:

I love this small solar panel. Using it to keep my Rv battery tapped off over the winter. It worked perfectly last winter.

  • Can Solar Panel be Used to Charge Breakaway Battery
Sure, if you don't want to use a breakaway battery system with a built-in charger like the Hopkins Engager # 20099, you can use a solar panel. What you can use for a smaller breakaway battery is the 2.5-Watt Solar Battery Charger # PTW2997. However, this has alligator clamps so it will be a bit more cumbersome to utilize; if your breakaway battery is a 12-volt battery with at least 5 amp-hours a better option due to its ring terminals is the Bright Way Solar Battery Charger - 7.5 Watt...

  • Portable Heater Options for Camper Van
It's always a good idea to think ahead. The Flex-a-lite Mojave Vehicle Heater # FLX640 is more of a permanent installation so if you plan on moving the heater frequently we'll want to look at something else like part # RA3501 that uses a bolt-on installation, but it's small enough that you should be able to move it around and secure it to a variety of locations. I'm attaching a link to our selection of heaters that are normally used for camper applications. Some of them use 12V power while...

  • Recommended Way to Charge my Trailer's Breakaway Battery
Both the CTEK US 0.8 Universal Battery Charger with Pulse Maintenance part # CTEK56865 and the Bright Way Solar Battery Charger and Maintainer part # BRW54FR would work well for this application. I prefer the solar option as it wouldn't require shore power. As an alternative I would instead use just the Hopkins Engager Push-To-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit with Built-In Battery Charger part # 20400. Since you're already going to be installing a breakaway kit why not one with a built in...

  • How to Charge Battery on Enclosed Tool Trailer for Lights at Jobsite
Hi Joe; you can add a 7-way to the trailer and connect it to your truck but this is just a maintenance charge. If you really want to charge the battery with your truck you need the Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Trailer Battery Charger # RED96FR which would allow for actual battery charging using your vehicle. Since the trailer will be staying on the jobsite most of the time and the lights are only necessary for brief periods at night I would just run a battery charger to it during the day when...

Yes, it will! The Bright Way Solar Battery Charger item # BRW54FR will indeed work with two batteries. However, your two batteries must be wired in series. Great question! You will be fine leaving the Bright Way Solar Battery Charger # BRW54FR connected to your trailer battery bank while connected to your tow vehicle. Neither source should provide enough power to overcharge your bank. The problem to watch out for, is not the voltage, it's the current (cfm). If your battery recommends 30a max charge current and both of your chargers are rated at 15a, you're good to use them both at the same time. If your chargers are both 30a units, then you could damage your battery. Since both the Solar # BRW54FR and wall charger # BRW77FR are 7.5 Watts I don't see there being an issue.
