Replacement Leaf Springs for 2022 Grand Design Solitude 310GK

Updated 12/22/2025 | Published 10/26/2024

Question:

I need to replace my leaf springs on my 2022 Grand Design Solitude 310 GK. It has 7K axels. Which product would be the best and most durable to use? Also do they come with the replacement shackles or is that separate? If so which ones do you recommend? Thank you!

Hi Tom; Grand Design has a nice parts site that usually helps to narrow down replacement parts for their trailers. However, your particular trailer has 5 different possible axles. All of them are 7k or 8k so that helps a little bit. If you take a look at your axle tag you should be able to figure out which you have.

In addition to the axle capacity you're going to have to measure the leaf springs. I went ahead and attached an article below which explains how to measure. With these two pieces of information you can find the right replacement. For example, if you find that you have an 8k axle that measures 24-7/8" spring eye to spring eye you can use the Dexter # DX74XR you looked at. Dexter is a good option but I wouldn't get too caught up in leaf spring brands as long as you have the right length and capacity.

For shackles you will also need to measure to keep them the same. The measurement for shackle straps is center hole to center hole. I don't know if you already have a wet bolt kit or not, but it looks like it was at least an option for your trailer. If you don't, I recommend upgrading to the MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit which includes wet bolts, bronze bushings, and 1/2" thick shackle straps. If you have 2-1/4" shackles use # MR46ZR and for 3-1/8" # MR76ZR. If you already have 1/2" thick heavy duty shackle straps I doubt they need to be replaced.

Hey Tom, were you able to measure your axle tag and leaf springs to confirm the right replacement for your Solitude? Knowing which setup you went with could really help others trying to match their 7K axles. Your update could make it easier for the next person with the same issue.

@RobinH Yes, I was able to measure and ordered and already had them installed. Thank you for the follow-up. I do have an unrelated question if you can answer it for me. If I air my tires on the RV to cold air pressure marked on tire of 125PSI at 80 degreee weather and then travel to 50 degree weather adn teh PSI is 115, do I air them back up to 125 PSI or just leave them at 115 PSI since I am at a lower degree? THanks, Tom

@TomP I would add air, yes, especially if you're traveling a lot and it will be staying at that temperature. Just like with your car when it starts to get cold and the air pressure drops.
