Retrax Tonneau Cover Will Not Close With Remote

Question:

@Kevin C…my retrax with open all the way up, but when I push the remote close, it will not close. I can see the green light from the remote is being received by the system. I tried hooking the power directly to the motor like someone else mentioned in this thread, and the retrax closes all the way. It’s obviously isn’t stripped teeth, or a bad motor, any suggestions?

Hey thanks for reaching out, Jeremy. It does not sound like a motor issue since the cover can open and close normally. This is a problem with the remote or with the receiver. The only fix for this is a replacement. The Replacement Remote Receiver for Retrax Powered Retractable Tonneau Covers # RTX89TR will work with any cover made after 2017. If you can give me the date code for your cover I can confirm if this will be correct for you.

@JeremyP There should be a tag on the driver side rail near the cab that has the model number serial number and date of manufacturing.

@JesseM the stick on the outside? I live in Arizona so that sticker is toast. My truck is a 2018 GMC Denali. The cover itself is the one with the aluminum slats, not the composite one if that helps?

@JeremyP the sticker would be on the underside of the cover near the cap. It is common for these stickers to go missing. You might not need to find it though because if the cover was purchased after the truck was made the cover should have been made after 2017. The date code is a way to completely confirm this. If you can find the SN usually we can have Retrax run it to find the manufacturing date.
