Can Taillights of Malone EcoLight Trailer be Viewed with Kayaks on Trailer

Updated 09/30/2024 | Published 09/24/2024

Question:

Is it difficult to see the trailer tailights when you are carrying two 14’ kayaks using the v bars as opposed to the j bars? It seems like the length of the kayaks hanging off of the trailer would block the lights.

Hey Theresa, this is a great question but the boats would be carried high enough that the Malone EcoLight Trailer part # MAL43FR would still easily have visible taillights. The vehicle behind you would have to be very very close to you and also very tall for there to be a concern and even at that point they'd probably still be able to see one of the lights and definitely your vehicle lights.

Two more… I’m guessing kayaks would be easier to load/unload on the v style racks vs the j style, if you are a female. Is that right? Are you limited on the width of the kayaks with the v vs the j? Can the v brackets be adjusted for width by adjusting the brackets that bolt them to the trailer frame?

@TheresaW On a lower trailer like this I would think the V style might be slightly easier to load and unload. The width shouldn't be a problem with this style either. This is due to fact the brackets can slide out wider as needed.
