Troubleshooting Fitment Of A Draw-Tite QSP Trailer Hitch Silencer # 63080

Updated 09/24/2024 | Published 09/22/2024

Question:

The draw tite anti rattle device fit perfectly on my hitch, but does not work. When I ordered it I didnt see where it said it would not work with a factory hitch. The hitch looks like it could be a Curtis supplied hit to ram and it fits perfect. So I am wondering if maybe Im doing something wrong.

Hi Terry,

What exactly isn't working for you with the Draw-Tite QSP Trailer Hitch Silencer # 63080? Is the latch not closing on it when you have it on the receiver tube? This just has a channel to slide over the lip of the receiver tube and a latch that presses against the tube to lock it into place. The opening in this for your accessory to slot through is a hair over 2" wide x 2-1/16" tall so your accessory shouldn't be getting stuck.

It does not snug the hitch at all. It still moves up and down and clunks.

@Terry Oh, that's because Curt hitches have a slightly different lip than Draw-Tite trailer hitches do. This is why there's the notes on the # 63080 product page about fitment. If you're wanting to return it and go with something else to prevent your hitch mounted accessories from rattling then I recommend the Malone Anti-Rattle HitchLock System # MPG908. This would clamp against the hitch and accessory to prevent any movement and works with both 1-1/4" and 2" trailer hitches.
