Can The DA91 Actuator Install 1" Above The Trailer Tongue
Updated 01/05/2026 | Published 09/20/2024 >
Question:
I recently purchased this DA91. When I went to mount it on the tongue thinking it would be a direct bolt up, I was wrong. The 4 forward holes in the unit are 1inch lower than the holes in the tongue. If I use the existing holes, This unit will sit 1inch above the tongue and not be resting on it. Is this the way I am suppose to mount this actuator? If Not, Then Now I need to drill new holes in a galvanized trailer. Please advise.

Hello Don. It is normal for the actuator to sit a bit above the tongue like you described. You do not need to drill new holes. If you use the current holes you will want to put some kind of material under the actuator to fill the void between the tongue and the actuator. A piece of steel would be fine, as long as the open space is filled. You can drill new holes if you prefer, but it is not required.

Hey Don, how did things go with mounting the Demco actuator on your trailer tongue? Did filling the gap with a steel spacer give you a solid fit? Your update could make it easier for the next person working with the same setup.
