2020 Subaru Crosstrek Blue Ox Hitch Installation
Updated 09/20/2024 | Published 09/15/2024 >
Question:
Coimpleted my installation of Blue Ox trailer hitch for 2020 Subaru Cross Trek. The guide wires for the bolts were a treat to use, though I was short two of the spacer plates. I used a car lift and then a transmission jack to line up the hitch. Very difficult to worm the hitch into position with the muffler and the drivers side fender wall. I used the transimission lift to push the hitch into position, then less than ten minutes to torque all four bolts down. I seriously doubt you can do this installation with car on ground as you cannot enlarge holes in frame without lifting car. Cheers, and it was worth what I paid for it.

Yes, this was purchased through etrailer.com. I was concerned about getting something that would fit my Cross Trek since it is tight underneath, and it had no place for a tow hook, which is nice to have on snow covered roads. I am looking at electrical hook ups now after successfully installing the hitch. The bolt alignment for the hitch was excellent but you do need to enlarge four holes in your car frame to install the bolts. There are four guide wires that are used to guide the bolts into the frame holes, and then you need to tweak and twist the hitch around the muffler and especially the left wheel well. Once you have the first bolt fastened, the rest will be easier. Looks good installed, and now I have a solid point to use as a tow hook.
