Looking For 7" x 2" Hydraulic Brake Assemblies With Parking Brake

Updated 08/26/2024 | Published 08/20/2024

Question:

I acquired a Jacobsen 154 sweeper. When I removed the drums to inspect the non-working brakes, I found the wheel cylinder pistons froze up in the bore and all the brake hardware missing. The original brakes were 7” x 2” by the drum measurement. I am needing left and right 7” hydraulic brake drum assemblies with parking brake feature. The Jacobsen part for left hand assembly is 119444 and right hand is 119445. Backing plate info: Mounting studs: 7/16” with 2 13/16” c/c Center hole: 3” Diagonal stud measurements: 4” Thank you in advance for your help. Steve Lillibridge 816-516-9331

Hello Steve. The only parking brake ready 7" brake assemblies we offer are the Dexter Electric Trailer Brakes # K23-103-104-00. These are electric brakes and they have 7" x 1-1/4" brake shoes. They use the same 4 bolt pattern for the backing plate as your brakes. We do have some 7" x 1-3/4" Hydraulic brake assemblies part # 23-398-399, but nothing that is parking brake ready.

Jesse, Thank you for your response. I will not be able to use the Dexter Electric Trailer Brakes # K23-103-104-00. There is not a machined surface for the magnet inside the drum. In your email, you stated that the electric trailer brake use the same 4 bolt pattern for the backing plate as my brakes. Did the same 4 bolt configuration hold true for the Hydraulic brake assemblies part # 23-398-399? Backing plate info: Mounting studs: 7/16” with 2 13/16” c/c, Center hole: 3” Diagonal stud measurements: 4” Thank you. Steve

@SteveL Yes, the Hydraulic brakes # 23-398-399 use the same 4 bolt mounting flange. It measures 4" center to center if your measure across diagonally. If you measure 1 stud to the other across it should be 2-3/4".
