Parts Needed to Install Brake Controller on 2024 Chevy Colorado Trail Boss

Question:

I bought a 2024 Chevy Colorado trail boss without the advanced trailering package. Does it come with the wiring for a trailer plug and a brake controller?

Hey Mark, the best brake controller for a 2024 Chevrolet Colorado Trail Boss is the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty item # RED52VR. This is a proportional brake controller that automatically adjusts your trailer's braking based on the deceleration of your Colorado. The Tow-Pro Elite has a unique installation method where the main unit is concealed behind your dash and the only part visible is the control knob.

There are no options to plug in a brake controller because Chevy did not include a brake controller adapter in the Colorado's. They ran the wires and tapped them off. There will be 4 blunt cut wires behind the plastic kick panel on the driver side of the vehicle that you can easily access. I have linked an installation video below to help you get the Tow-Pro Liberty set up.

If your truck does not have a 7-way connector at the rear of it you would also need to add that with the part # HM11141144.
