Question:
Hi, I am looking at the rockymounts monorail 3 and Kuat transfer v2 for 3 bikes on a 2019 outback premium with 2” hitch. I am wondering how they each interfere with the view of the backup camera when in the folded up no bikes. Can you provide a picture of the backup screen for each so I can see what the camera would see with the racks in this position?

Hi Rolly,
We unfortunately don't have a picture showing what it would look like for either bike rack from the backup camera's view. The Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Rack for 3 Bikes # KU24FR and RockyMounts MonoRail Bike Rack # RKY10004-10005 are going to give you a similar view, but the Transfer V2 has a slightly more open design between the rails/hooks so it'll likely be the better option. It also doesn't have a center mast like the MonoRail so there's on less thing to block the camera view.
I measured both racks from the center of the hitch pin hole up to each rail/hook/etc. that runs across and could potentially block the camera so you can measure on the location of the camera in comparison. The V2 has something running across at 9", 18-1/2", 29-1/2", and 40". The MonoRail has something running across every 6" so it leaves less room for the camera to fit in. I think the V2 is going to be the better option but you can try measuring from the center of the hitch pin hole up to the camera to verify.

Hey Rolly, were you able to measure from the hitch pin hole to your Outback’s backup camera to see which rack gave you the clearer view? Knowing which one worked best could really help others deciding between the Transfer V2 and the MonoRail.
