Question:
I have the Acclaim tow bar and just purchased a new 2014 Jeep Wrangler. I need a new base plate and I believe the BX1126 is the correct plate. However it states that it doesnt work with car mounted tow bar. Note 17. Then later on i see it does work with the Acclaim . Will this base plate work with my current tow bar? If so I would like to place my order Monday morning.

The Acclaim tow bar, # BX4330, may only be used with removable tab base plates that have 23 inch or greater spaced tabs. The Blue Ox base plates for your 2014 Jeep Wrangler, # BX1126, has tabs spaced 24 inches apart so the Acclaim will fit. I checked with Blue Ox to confirm the fit.
You will also need lighting to flat tow the Jeep. The bulb and socket kit, # RM-155, is a good permanent solution. Once installed you will not have to worry about it again and it bypasses the vehicle wiring.
And finally, most states now require supplemental braking on the vehicle being flat towed. One of the easiest systems to set up and use is the Patriot proportional system # BLU37TR. It will apply the Jeep brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the easiest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles. A 12 volt outlet kit, # RM-9332, is also recommended for proper use of the braking system.
Be sure to consult your Jeep owners manual for specific information on flat towing the vehicle. I have also included some helpful links to our series of help articles on flat towing for you.
