Question:
I need a very good quality transmission cooler for my 2016 Honda Pilot. You have several. There are different classes 1. Is Class III the most effective at cooling.? 2. Some are top connect and some are side. 3. How do I determine which I need? 4. What are two you would recommend? 5. You provide a hose rather than piping. Is it the highest quality so that it wont blow on hot days?

Hello Doug, thanks for reaching out. When selecting a transcooler, if you want the most effective cooling, you will want to get the largest cooler available for your vehicle. Basically more surface area means better cooling, and we do not always go by the class designation. Our best option for the 2016 Honda Pilot the Derale Dyno-Cool Tube-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit - Class II # D12906. This cooler is 13" Wide x 7-1/2" tall x 3/4" deep which is the largest we offer for your car. This comes with a high-temp hose that will hold up nicely on hot days. Keep in mind that this cooler is for vehicles with the 3.5L V6 engine and will not fit models with the 9-speed transmission.

Jesse, I am just double checking that even thought the D12906 cooler is much lower price, you say it is the best for the Pilot because it has large surface area. Y/N? Pls answer the question about the inlet/outlet. Thx Doug

Thx Jesse. My hitch is a class III after checking with Honda. Towing increases from 3500 # to 5000# with the cooler so I want a very good one. The D12906 is a class II. Is that unit really the best? Is the inlet/outlet both on one side correct and can this cooler be mounted with the pipes on the left or the right? I will order the right cooler kit once I'm sure I have the right, best one and have all my questions answered. Thx.
