Updated 06/16/2024 | Published 06/13/2024

Question:

Hi I need to rebuild a boat trailer that’s rusting out in salt water. It’s a double axel total about 6000 lbs.Considerings the following… 8-247-50uc3 hub and drum Akfbbrk-35-d hydraulic brake kit And E48sr leaf springs Are they compatible? Also need to add galvanized U bolts 2 1/2” wide and about 6 1/2 long to secure new spirited to round axels. And galvanized or stainless steel bolts to connect everything else.

Hey Tony, all of the components you mentioned would work as long as the axles you have are 3,500 lb axles. This is a very common axle capacity so I would assume that is what you have but you can check this by looking at the tag on the axle to verify or measure the diameter which should be 2-3/8 inches.

I linked everything below.

@TonyC We do have a 2-3/8 inch u-bolt that is galvanized with the part # CE15286GA.

Do you also have galvanized or stainless bolts to secure the Brake Kit to the axel and the leaf springs to the frame?

@TonyC The galvanized brake assemblies have studs built into them which are galvanized. Then for a shackle bolt the part # TRFA73Z916DLNZ is zinc coated.
