Looking For Replacement 3,500 lb Axle For A 2019 Forest River Salem FSX 179DBK

Question:
I have a Forest River Salem FSX 179DBK that I believe needs a new axle. The inside of the tires is wearing slightly faster than the outside and also when I checked the bearings I found a gouge on the LH spindle. I am unable to find any information on my axle, the label that was once on the tube has come off. Are you able to point me towards a replacement beam? What I do know is it is a 3500LB axle and I measured 74 inches between the brake mounting flanges. Any help would be appreciated!

Hello Scott. Excessive wear on the inside of the tire is definitely a sign of a damaged axle that will need to be replaced. Damaged spindles also mean a replacement is needed. We offer a few 3,500 lb axles, although we do not have them listed by the distance between the brake flange. Axles are generally measured in two ways, the distance across from hub-face to hub-face, and the distance between the spring seats. The hub face measurement determines where the tires will ride so this is the most important measurement to look at.
For example, the Dexter 3,500 lb axle part # 35545E-ST-89 is 89" long when measured from the hub face, and has a 74" spring center distance. This is likely a bit longer than your axle, so if you can let me know the hub face and spring center of your axle and I am happy to see what your options are.

Hey Scott, were you able to get the hub face and spring center measurements for your axle? Once you had those numbers, did you find a replacement that matched up well? Your update could make it easier for others trying to replace a similar axle.
