Question:
Hi folks, I own a 2025 Forest River Wildwood Heritage Glen 25RBHL and I want to upgrade the suspension. The axles are 3500 lbs each. The axle spread is 42 1/4. The GVWR of my trailer is 7640 lbs. I know I want to add shocks. So if you could suggest a product I would appreciate it. I am also torn between an upgrade shackle kit + upgraded equalizer or going with slipper springs. Can you suggest what would be the better upgrade? Thanks Stef

Hey Stef! That is a really nice looking trailer, have you taken it out yet? If you want to add shocks then the Roadmaster Comfort Ride Shock Absorbers for Tandem Axle Trailers # RM-2450 are the way to go. These are designed for 3,500 lb axles with a 2-3/8" diameter which is standard. I would double check your axle diameter just to be sure.
If you really want to go all in then we also have the Roadmaster Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit w/ Shock Absorbers # RM82MR. This system is a huge upgrade for any trailer and will really give you a great ride. It has a unique design which replaces the equalizer and allows you to use slipper springs in a special configuration along with the shocks. Since this separates the axles it will function like an independent suspension system.
If you are set on adding an upgraded equalizer on top of the shocks then I would go for the full Comfort Ride system. This will be better overall compared to the shocks plus a traditional upgraded equalizer. However, I do understand it is a large investment.
If you would rather save some money the next best thing on top of the shocks is an upgraded equalizer like the Dexter E-Z Flex # K71-653-00. To find the best fit you will need to get your current equalizer measurements. Also, I wouldn't try to switch to traditional slipper springs since there won't be an advantage over double-eye and you will have to cut off and replace your current hangers and equalizer.

Hey Stef, how did things go with upgrading the suspension on your Wildwood Heritage Glen? Did you end up going with the full Comfort Ride system or just the shock absorbers? Your update could make it easier for others deciding between those setups.
