Solution for Installing trailer Cargo Carrier for RV Bumper When Brackets Won't Fit

Question:

I bought your 24x40 Cargo Carrier for RV Bumper kit. Unfortunately my bumper is recessed under the back of my trailer. And is welded to the frame rail. I am unable to get the brackets over the bumper. Do you have any adaptors to remedy this or am I sunk? Do you have any suggestions that dont include cutting and rewelding my bumper?

Hi Roger; since you can't get the brackets around there altering or replacing your bumper is the only solution. Unfortunately, there is no adapter that would allow it to fit. You could also get creative and try to come up with a way to weld the # e99050 directly onto the bumper if you don't mind it being permanently attached.

Outside of that, I would say your best option is to add a hitch like the # 13703 which fits frames 22" - 72" wide. Then you could use a hitch mounted cargo carrier like the Flint Hill Goods 19" x 53" Cargo Carrier # FHG87ZR.

Hey Roger, what did you end up doing with your cargo carrier setup since the bumper brackets wouldn’t fit? Your update could make it easier for others dealing with a recessed bumper like yours.
