Hi everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today we'll be taking a look at our Flint Hill Goods Compact Cargo Carrier. This is going to be a steel cargo carrier that you can put into your hitch receiver, and that way you have more space to carry all kinds of other things. So a smaller cargo carrier can come in handy for different situations. What if you have a smaller vehicle that doesn't really have that cargo space for things like coolers or totes Or what if you have something heavy that you don't want inside of your vehicle I know someone who uses this with his smaller Ford Fiesta in order to carry around his tires for when he needs to switch his tires for the winter season. So situations like that, that's when this can come in handy. So when shopping around for a cargo carrier some things to think about are, where are you gonna put it when it's not on your car How much cargo can you put on the cargo carrier And will it fit your vehicle So for example, here we have our Prius V, and even with coolers up on there, we don't have to worry about our hatch door hitting the cooler.
But it will fit differently for different vehicles. We do have test fit videos on different vehicles if you wanna check that out. This is gonna be the overall carrier. The perks of this carrier is that it's a compact carrier. Now that's good because it is made of steel with kind of heavy, not too heavy where I can't carry it rounds.
But compared to aluminum carriers, those are usually lighter and larger. So this can be stored inside of your garage, in your shed. You can just lean it up against the wall, or just put it on the ground and when you're ready to load it up, make sure you have all the right parts. So this weighs about 25 pounds. So when you're lifting it into your hitch, just try to get that lined up with your two inch hitch receiver, pop that through, and then you're gonna have to figure out where that hitch pinhole is.
If you want, you can get a hitch pin alignment collar, so that you just set it once and you don't have to lean back and forth every time. With the holes lined up, you can then put in your hitch pin. This has a little nut that goes on the end and you can use the included wrench to tighten this down, but really it's hand tightened most of the way. Once you've tightened down that nut, you can then put this little clip to secure it just in case. So that is a different design then you might usually see for a hitch pin, so that nut tightens it down and works kind of like an anti-rattle device.
So it's a very solid fit where it reduces the rattle side to side, but you will still have a little bit of up and down movement. And that's how you you install your cargo carrier. You can see how easy this is to store it inside of your garage or inside of your shed, but we'll take a little bit of time to line it up with your hitch pin hole and tighten it down. That's why I recommend getting the hitch pin alignment collar, and maybe a faster anti-rattle device, if you wanna upgrade to that. So now that you've figured out if you can install your cargo carrier, where you are gonna put it, how to put into your hitch receiver, the question is how much cargo can you put on this carrier This does have a 500 pound weight capacity, but that has its own thing too. One is that it has to be easily distributed weight capacity. Two, please make sure you actually have that capacity for your hitch receiver. For example, for our Prius V, I don't have a 500 pound hung weight capacity. I have a little bit less. So you have to add the weight of the carrier, add the weight of your cargo, make sure it's not too much for your vehicle. Within that weight capacity, you have your interior dimensions too. So for your interior dimensions, meaning where your cargo can actually sit, we have 51 and three quarter inches of length and then we have 17 and a quarter inches of width. And then for the height with these side rails, we measure from the basket to the top, that's four and a quarter inches of height. You can also utilize those rails as anchor points for your straps. So this has a rail design where it just goes across and that means you have a nice, solid surface for your cooler, your totes, things like that. But you can also pick and choose where on the carrier you can strap things down. This is straight out from your hitch receiver. So if you're trying to figure out where your cargo is gonna sit, just see where your hitch receiver hitch pin hole is and that's gonna be where the platform for your cargo is. That will help you figure out how high you can stack things up before you get into clearance issues like opening up your door, lowering tailgate, opening up your trunk, things like that. That's gonna be very different depending on what type of vehicle you have. So let's take the cargo off so we can take a closer look of will this match or will this fit on your car. So for exterior dimensions we're gonna measure from the center of the hitch pin hole. So the closest point from that hole to this rail here, that's gonna be six and a half inches. So if you have a hitch that's closely inside of your car, or maybe you have a bigger bumper, you'll wanna know that measurement. The next one is from the center hitch can hole to the end of the basket, that's gonna be 26 inches. So for the overall dimensions, the width of the basket is gonna be 53 and a quarter inches. The length is gonna be 19 and three quarter inches. So hopefully this will help you figure out if are you able to put your cargo carrier on or your car while it's stored in your garage Do you have to drive outside Do you have space for it Things like that. Now if you do wanna leave it on your vehicle, that's perfectly fine. It is made of steel so it's strong and sturdy, but you also have that powder coat finish around it to maintain corrosion resistance. Now, with the hardware though, those are points to keep track of with they're out and about in the elements. You have these reflectors on the end, so that way people driving up behind you will see that you have an extended load behind your vehicle. But also remember that since it is a straight shank, if you do go up those steep inclines like those driveways or those hills, you'll want to be mindful of your ground clearance. This does not have a hitch lock though, so if you are parked somewhere for an extended period of time, and if someone does have the right wrench to undo that hitch pin, they can remove it. So you can get a hitch lock that is sold separately. You can get that added onto this carrier. Now this is the wrench included with this carrier. It matches all the bolts. There is assembly required, but once it's on there, once everything's tightened down, then you're good to go. So it's a simple cargo carrier. It definitely doesn't take that much space and it gets the job done with carrying around cargo of different shapes and sizes. Hopefully this video help you figure out if it'll work for whatever you're carrying, and if it'll work for that lifestyle of having that cargo carrier. Another thing though is how well does it handle the road Handle those speed bumps Especially with things tightened down. Let's take this out for a ride and take a look. So backing up, you can see through the backup camera that we have our cooler, our tote, but there's still a little bit of visibility behind the carrier. So note where your backup camera is and see if there's visibility for your vehicle. Now going through the test course, we do have a little bit of up and down movement like I said, but the side to side is very diminished. Then going over these speed bumps as well, there is a little bit of movement but everything is still in place and solid. And as we go through our slalom where we take our quick turns we see they sway side to side, here's where our anti-rattle hitch pin does most of its work to reduce that sway. I actually prefer aluminum carriers because they are a lighter, but the downside to that is usually they're also bigger, they're more difficult to store because they're so lightweight and can fall over possibly, and they are at a higher price point. This is a compact cargo carrier. Yes, it is made of steel, but you do have that powder coat finish and it does only weigh 25 pounds since it's not a huge carrier. So as long as you're not carrying around huge things that require that extra space, this definitely gets a job done. It's easy to keep it in your in your garage and you just install it and go. Hopefully this video helped you out with seeing if it is the right fit for whatever you're carrying and whatever vehicle you are carrying it on. And if you're looking for other cargo carriers, maybe a larger one, maybe one with ramps, maybe one made of aluminum, Flint Hill Goods has carriers of different shapes and sizes and you can find them here at etrailer.com. This one right here was a look at the Flint Hill Goods Compact Steel Cargo Carrier with dimensions of 52 by 17, and you saw it here at etrailer. My name is Evangeline and I hope you enjoy the journey.

Transport gear and equipment with this basket-style hitch cargo carrier. Raised rails help keep gear in place and provide limitless tie-down options. Sturdy steel is powder coated to resist corrosion. Pin and clip included.Great product, easy to assemble, great quality, easy to use and super fast shipment. Now I have more free space on the trunk of my 2010 Nissan Murano, you can't go wrong with trailer.com the MT70107 cargo carrier is 100% recommended.
Box came undamaged. All hardware ( bolts nuts and washers were loose in the box. Box was fully of sand. Cross bars for the top needed to be drilled since the factory holes did not line up. In reality I paid for what I got. Other than that it seems it will full fill it's intended use although it was a hassle.
This was my second order from eTrailer. The first was great, fast delivery, great product, etc. This order, a trailer hitch cargo carrier wasnt so good. The hardware is just thrown in the box with no packaging, so with a small tear in the box resulted in two missing hex nuts. I had to buy a couple matching nuts at the hardware store. After assembly, I noticed the hitch receiver holes were not centered which resulted in the entire carrier sitting lopsided with the left side a very noticeable 4 inches higher than the rights side. I will re-drill the holes properly, but it would be nice if the quality control was part of the paid price. I think this will be the last time I buy from eTrailer, knowing the QC is lacking. Really, how much is a baggie to put the hardware in? And how hard is it to line up two holes?

UPDATE: I previously rated this product and after being contacted by eTrailer for the problems that I had with this product, their customer service representative Nikki, contacted me and went out of her way to fix the problem that I had with the alignment of a couple of the holes. Nikki had MaxXTow send me the new part and stayed on top of the transaction with updates and emails. The carrier is exactly what I ordered and fits perfect. Ive never experienced customer service like this and the next time I order a product that is in eTrailers product line, I can guarantee they have my business.Thank you, Nikki!
Top Holes did not line up.i had to drill the holes bigger, the 2 inch male end that fits to the 2 inch hitch is a good bit smaller which makes for a wobbly cargo carrier,i will have to shim it,it is still a good deal and built solid,i will be using it to carry camping gear and it will be attached to the camper

Instead of using a shim you can always use an anti-wobble such as roadmaster quiet hitch for 2 inch hitches part RM-061. This part will tighten up the space between the shank and the hitch opening.

I don't know if it's good or bad my car was totaled in a car accident and I never got to attach it so it just been sitting in my garage
Just returned from the Outerbanks and used the MaxxTow Cargo Carrier on our 2014 Jeep Wrangler. At first we were concerned about the amount of movement in the hitch receiver after it was installed, but once it was loaded down there was no issue. No issues with it not clearing the spare tire (with nothing in it), or covering the taillights with the Rola bag we bought for it filled up. Overall we were very pleased. It worked great!
Carrier worked well. By putting the luggage outside the car, we've now got enough room in the car to bring our dog along on trips. It was silent and stable when used with a Roadmaster Quiet Hitch rm-061. Capacity was just right to hold suitcases and strollers without extending past the edges of our smallish SUV (BMW X3).
Two minor quibbles: Several of the bolt heads (marked 8.8, metric) are out of tolerance; neither Metric nor SAE tools fit well, so I used an adjustable wrench. Secondly, I wish there were more vertical elements along the frame rails to function as anchor points for ratcheting tie-downs.
Easy assembly. Great weight rating, better than others in its class. Small enough to fit behind my vehicle but large enough for a fair amount of cargo
This product came at a very good price point and I find myself using it instead of hooking up some of my smaller trailers which is very convenient. not only can you fill the basket but it's very easy to strap things like ladders and other cargo to it with bungees and ratchet straps.
Ordered this for my 2015 Ford Escape. I like it because it does not extend beyond the width of the vehicle. It's sturdy but also lightweight. I purchased a couple of the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch for 2" Trailer Hitches - RM-061 to help lock it down. Scratches easily. Assembly was quick and straight forward. Would recommend as a value buy. Exactly what I was looking for.
Outstanding product! Perfect for my needs.
This quality of this product far exceeds its price. After reading some reviews about holes not lining up and hardware just thrown into the box I was slightly skeptical, BUT this product was very well packaged, all the hardware was in a nice little bag, and the box was very sturdy. When assembling it, if you hand tighten all the bolts first, all of the holes line up perfectly with no problems. I was surprised by the quality and strength of the bars.
The ONLY thing i could see that would improve this product would be that it would be difficult for someone to replace the reflectors with a lighting kit of some sorts. The holes are 2 inches on center for the reflectors and most brake, stop, tail trailer lights do not come in this size.
This is by far, in my opinion, the best bang for your buck cargo carrier on the market.
I needed something simple to haul trash and small items with my Jeep Wrangler without having to go into the expense of a trailer. I was notified by George that the hitch cargo carrier would arrive earlier than initially promised and it did. "Disassembled" is a word that usually scares me off but it wasn't a problem. It's perfect for everything I needed. etrailer, you have a customer for life. Thank you!
Etrailer has great prices and what appears to be good products. the welds on the storage rack looked very good, much better than [local retailer] who sells a similar item at a similar price. However I did lower the stars because it was missing one nut in the kit. Not a big deal, but still a hassle to go get one. Also, I've been spoiled by 2 day shipping with [site]. That being said, they did ship my items in a timely fashion and I got them when they said I would. I will def consider etrailer in the future when I need something.
Quickly delivered and easy to assemble. Perfect for my 2012 Jeep Wrangler. The low profile allows the rear gate and spare tire to clear the sides of the carrier when not in use. Also purchased an 8" hitch extender to provide additional space between the exhaust and the carrier. I am very happy with it.
Had a lot of opportunity to buy this product from other vendors. Glad I decided on E Trailer. They took the time to look at shipping rates, and found they could send to me PRIORITY, at no addition cost. Got it a lot sooner than expected. I liked the commitment to service after the sale, got a follow up email asking about my satisfaction, and a name and phone number to use if I had any issues. Still have to assemble the product, but if it is an issue, I know I will get help in solving it.
Carrier was exactly as described. Fit my 2014 rubicon perfectly. Easy construction and install. A sturdy and quality piece for the price. Tailgate also opens with carrier installed, a must have feature!
Solidly built and easy to install. I modified the tongue a little so it would ride closer to my car's bumper (2015 Honda Accord), but I've had no issues whatsoever. I would absolutely recommend this carrier.
Great product a heavy duty cargo carrier!!!!.It only took 20 minutes from the time I took it out of the box to assemble. Will be using this for camping.I would highly recommend this carrier!!!!.
Works great to attach a cargo carrier to my Outback, installed by myself in a long afternoon.
Just received it but have not had a chance to use it yet. Went together easily. Like others the hardware bag was broken and I was missing one washer which i replaced easily from my own supply.
Fits great on my Jeep Wrangler. Tailgate opens fully with nothing in the basket and the full basket is available for use - no interference from the spare tire.
Shipping was fast and free.
Instructions were clear and easy to follow.

Hello Mike, We are glad to hear that our product meets your standards and that the instructions were clear and easy to follow. If there are any questions or concerns please get in contact with us and we will be more than gladly to help you. Thank you! Best,Team MaxxHaul
Overall, the product delivers as promised. The holes for the top two brace pieces were a little off centered, but nothing a little prying and screwing couldn't overcome. My one suggestion: I went and bought four new bolts for these 2 top pieces, as the hex bolts provided took away about a half inch of clearance, and they are sharp edges. My Costco 120 qt white giant IGLOO cooler would not quite fit. When I replaced with same size flat heads, the cooler fits perfectly..no digging in by the bolt heads!!
Quick delivery. Easy to assemble. Nuts / bolts / washers were all floating around loose in the box, but were all there. Perfect fit for my Honda CRV. Should be very handy. Thanks! :-)
It arrived yesterday. I put it together this AM. Reminder place bolts in and leave loose, or you will have trouble getting them thru the holes. For the money paid, it is pretty good quality.
