Question:
Hi I’m installing the redarc tow pro liberty to my 2024 Subaru Outback wilderness and I’m to the point where I need to splice the red wire from the wiring harness to the brown wire on the stop lamp switch, but I don’t have a brown wire. Instead I have a white, black, yellow, green, and blue with a red stripe. Can you tell me which wire I need to splice into. And no, I don’t want to check the plug with a multimeter because the wires are so far up under the dash and my fat hands can’t make it happen.

I wish I could tell you exactly which wire you will need to splice into on your 2024 Subaru Outback Wilderness but with your wiring being different than the wiring on the Outback we had in our shop we have no way to know for sure which wire it is. Since you cannot get a Test Light # PTW2993 to the brake switch you could try calling your local Subaru dealer with your VIN number as the service department should be able to look up the wiring harness information and give you a wire color.
Otherwise the only other way I know to be able to install the brake controller would be using a Universal Stop Light Switch # RM-751000 without being able to test the wiring for operation on the brake light switch.
