Question:
I have a 2023 Forester Wilderness that can tow 3500 lbs. I have a hitch installed with a 4 pin. I also have a 1500 lb tear I want to pull but it has a 7pin. Can you recommend the 4 to 7 conversion with necessary brake items?

Hello Kelley. We can set you up with a 4-pin to 7-pin conversion for your 2023 Subaru Forester Wilderness. It seems you are on the right track already though, because the Universal Installation Kit # ETBC7 that you were looking at is exactly what you will need. This will contain all of the components needed to upgrade your 4-flat to a 7-way including all of the necessary wires for installing a brake controller. The # ETBC7 will also give you a 4-way and 7-way on the back of your Subaru, so you can connect both trailers without the need for any adapters.
The Tekonsha P3 # 90195 is a very solid controller, so you can't go wrong with one of those. Since your vehicle is so new, I suggest you take a look at the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED52VR. I like this controller because it installs up behind the dash. The only part of the controller you will see is the LED control knob about the size of a nickel. This will make for a much cleaner look in your new Subaru. The control knob might take a bit of getting used to, but once you get the hang of it controls will be super easy, kind of like riding a bike. The Redarc controller will install using the included pigtail. I have linked a few install videos for you below.
