Replacement Hitch for 2020 Toyota Tundra With Factory Hitch

Question:

I have a 2020 Toyota Tundra Crewmax Platium with tow package. The hitch was already installed but previous owner used it for boating and it is Rusty. Our toyota service guy says it is too rusted and not safe to tow. We need to replace the assembly and your product looks like it might work. Your opinion?

Hi Margaret; it is possible to replace your 2020 Tundra factory hitch with the Curt # C15398. The one thing to keep in mind is that installation will require removing the old hitch which is part of the support for the rear bumper. Curt is unable to confirm how secure the bumper is once the old hitch is removed. Aside from a factory replacement this is the only option available.

I would reach back out to your service guy and check to see if it is possible to pull bumper supports or a full bumper off an old Tundra that did not have the factory hitch and replace yours. This has been a solution for other vehicles with the same issue from an integrated factory hitch. If isn't possible it would be something you have to live with if you want to add an aftermarket hitch.
