Question:

So tell me what you think is important for me to know? How long does it take on average to install this hitch on my 2023 Toyota Crown knowing I have no experience, 76 yrs old and somewhat mechanically inclined? Do you have pictures you can send me so I can see what I have to cut and the cutting tool I need to cut it with? You mention drilling since you have installed this hitch on a Toyota crown was drilling needed? How difficult is dropping the tail pipe and where do I get the special tool that is needed and the cost? Will I need a lift to install it or can I lay on my back on the ground to do It. Please answer all the questions it is very important to me. Thank you

Hey Ed, thanks for reaching out!

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C77ZV is rated a 10 out of 10 for difficulty and will take the average (experienced) mechanic about 1 hour and 40 minutes to install on your 2023 Toyota Crown. Since you haven't installed a hitch before I would set aside 2-3 hours for yourself to complete the installation - it does help that you're mechanically inclined.

- Attached is a snapshot photo of how the hardware will be configured, but you can check out the linked installation instructions for some photos.
- We typically use tin snips to cut fascia, but realistically anything that can cut cleanly through thicker plastic will work just fine.
- You won't need to drill new holes in your frame, but you will need to use a die grinder to enlarge the holes so you can run the hardware through your frame.
- Lowering the exhaust isn't too bad, you just need a strap secured underneath it to act as a sling while it isn't connected to the hangers. The hardest part is typically removing the exhaust from the hangers. You'll need silicone spray # RM-747 and a pry bar to accomplish this.
- I'm not sure if a lift is needed, but you definitely need ramps at the very least. I installed a hitch on my van by myself with some ramps and it was doable, but I also didn't have to lower the exhaust.
