Why Can't Some Bike Racks be Used at Rear of Flat Towed Vehicle
Question:
How come you cant put it on a Tow Vehicle. We have a 24 foot Thor Synergy and we flat tow a Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk, so I just was curious as to why we cant use this bike rack.

Hey Michael, great question as this used to bug me and it didn't seem to make sense to me. So we spoke with Hollywood Racks and at the rear of a flat towed vehicle there is a bit of sway created since the vehicle has a tendency to turn slightly to the left and right as it tracks behind the tow vehicle. That creates additional stress that eventually can cause some racks to fail.
For a similar bike rack that is rated for this application we do have the Swagman Nomad part # S36FR which would work great.

Thanks James, I know it doesn't make sense so we won't put it on the tow car.
