Can ETBC7 Be Used as Just a 7-Way Adapter without Brake Controller

Question:
I’m currently working on getting a hitch receiver and wiring harness for my Explorer and wanted to know if I could install this harness in preparation for adding the brake control unit in my car at a later date, but still us the 7 and 4 hook ups on a trailer with no brakes? I would just tape and tuck the four wires need for the brake system and use the system as if it didn’t include the braking wires.

Hey John, yes you could use the brake controller install kit/7-way adapter part # ETBC7 as just a 7-way adapter for the time being and not wire up any of the brake controller install wires and it would work fine till you decide to install one. The P2 part # 90885 would be a really great choice when it's time for one too by the way.
